About the Scholarship
Wally Hood was head football coach at Fairmont State from 1984-1991. During his time at Fairmont State, Hood led the Falcons to a 42-35-4 overall record including a 1988 WVIAC Championship and an appearance in the NAIA National Playoffs. Also, during his tenure, he had 32 student-athletes earn first team All-Conference honors and 20 were All-American selections. Additionally, 13 players were Academic All-Americans.
Coach Hood left a legacy at Fairmont State that his family, players, coaches, and fans could be proud of. In honor of this legacy, past players, friends, and family of Coach Hood are raising money to establish a scholarship to be named after Coach Wally and his wife, Irma. This scholarship will provide essential support for a football player in good academic standing each year in perpetuity. Anyone who gives a gift of $1,000 or more, will become a member of The Fighting Falcons $1,000 Club. This is an annual membership for athletic donors. Members receive a piece of apparel and 2 tickets to 1 game in the VIP President’s Suite during a football game. If you would like to make a pledge to give a small monthly amount, please reach out to Marissa Mauro at (304)333-3730 or [email protected]. We hope you will give what you can to build this legacy for Coach Wally and Irma Hood that can be used to support the next generation of Falcons. |
