About the College
Fairmont State University's College of Education, Health and Human Performance is dedicated to empowering students with the knowledge and skill to excel as an educator or health and human performance professional. With a variety of programs specializing in many different facets of the educational experience – from teaching in an elementary school to high school physical education to nutrition science – students will learn what it takes to share passion and knowledge in the classroom and the community.
In the College of Education, Health and Human Performance, students will learn from a dedicated faculty who can serve as mentors and inspirations . Not only will you learn about theories and practices that can better prepare students for the classroom, they will also have ample opportunities to put that learning to work and build the skills and confidence they will need when they begin their careers. Fairmont State University is part of the Professional Development School (PDS) Partnership program, dedicated to improving education for West Virginia students. The program allows for the creation and implementation of innovative teaching methods. |
Teacher Education
From our beginnings as the first private normal school in West Virginia in 1865, Fairmont State has been committed to the preparation and support of professionals who are ready to make a difference in the lives of those they serve, and in the communities in which they live.
In the Teacher Education program, students can choose to focus on Elementary Teacher Education or Secondary Teacher Education and Comprehensive Teacher Education. The Teacher Education program is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation. |
Health and Human Performance
In the Health and Human Performance department, students can choose to focus studies on Exercise Science, Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation Leadership, or Nutrition Science
